Which Local Shops Get Your Holiday Dollars?

Patch wants to know which merchants offer the best solutions for gifts and holiday fare.

With Christmas two weeks away and Hanukkah being celebrated through Dec. 16, residents across the Town of East Hampton are on the hunt for gifts and party goods to celebrate the holidays with family and friends.

Perhaps more than ever this year, there is added importance on supporting local businesses. Already facing challenging economic conditions, local merchants are also looking to drive sales in an effort to recover revenue lost while area residents focused their attention on the cleanup from Hurricane Sandy.

To give local businesses some additional exposure, East Hampton Patch is asking readers where they shop in their local community for gifts, party goods and other provisions needed to help celebrate their holiday.

In the comments section below, tell us what local merchants you shop and what items you purchase at a given store. And if you a shopkeeper, let us know what special holiday items you have.

In the past, I bought merchandise at Breezin' Up, White's Pharmacy, CVS (of all places!), Starbucks and Mary's Marvelous (yes, they count as "local"), and lots of restaurants for gift certificates as well as local wine from any number of shops.

CVS and Starbucks are local? No wonder local businesses are suffering. People don't know the difference between local and national chains.

Yes, definitely Mary's Marvelous and you can never go wrong with a book from Bookhampton. And White's as well.
