Original partner is back; Management says it wants to return to the hotel's roots.

A new group is at the helm of Montauk's most talked about nightclub.

According to a statement issued Monday, Montauk Properties LLC has purchased , a late-night hot spot that has been the subject of complaints from neighbors.

The former ownership is involving more than 600 zoning and fire code violations. Just last week, to appeal a decision made by the town building inspector with regards to necessary permits.

"We acquired The Surf Lodge with a vision for improving and refining the experiences for all of our guests. Montauk has an amazing culture and community and we think the Surf Lodge has an opportunity to play a vital role in the community," said Michael Walrath, who manages the investment company, in a statement.

The company, which said it focuses on real estate and hospitality investments, partnered with Jayma Cardoso, one of the original partners at Surf Lodge, a hotel that opened in May 2008. She will be managing the property.

The new owners said they are "devoted to returning to the hotel's original roots, as a lifestyle driven property that focuses on the 'experience' of Montauk."

"I love Montauk as it reminds me of home. It's been a beach town ever since I moved from Brazil to New York and I am deeply connected to the property and the town," Cardoso said in the statement.
