Steamers Are Sweeter at Dockside
Served in a thick, buttery broth, this appetizer is worth the wait for a table.
The American Legion building on the bay in Sag Harbor is a local landmark and a mecca for steamer-lovers. The restaurant there has an outdoor seating area is usually full, as does not take reservations. The wait is well-worth it, and if you're in a hurry, the bar is inviting, and the dining room is cool and relaxing. There are so many inviting entrees, it's hard to choose, but appetizer steamers are a best bet.

How's It Taste: Delectably delicious describes the taste of this dish, with extra broth on the side thick enough for dipping. It's a toss up whether the sweetness is from the steamers themselves or the broth. Hot butter is the ideal afterthought. And if you're still hungry, there's warm bread for dipping in the sauce underneath the steamers.
Entrees include specials of the day, such as sea bass, paella, and lobster served out of the shell.
