SPiN NY's Collaboration With c/o The Maidstone Stays Strong

Feel like playing ping-pong with your drinks? c/o The Maidstone's got you covered.

It's been almost a month since SPiN NY's ping pong table first opened in the backyard garden of the Maidstone at 207 Main Street.

General manager Sophie B. Himdmarsh says its been a huge success. "It's super fun," Himdmarsh said, "Lots of hotel guests and diners at the restaurant have been using it. People get up from their dinner tables to go play in the middle of a meal. It's open to anyone who comes in, including people just at the bar."

Himdmarsh explained that the partnership came about out of a conversation with her husband and co-manager. "We don't have a pool," she said, "so we felt that we should have a ping pong table. We started talking about the possibilities and after a conversation with our PR firm, it turned out they knew someone at SPiN."

SPiN NY, a so-called "ping-pong social club" at 48 East 23rd street in Manhattan, is the brain child of co-founders Actress Susan Sarandon and her boyfriend Jonathan Bricklin. Since its opening in 2009, SPiN has become known for its bar scene, music and ping-pong tournaments. The positive energy seems to have made the transition out East.

On August 18th, Himdmarsh said, SPiN will be sending out an instructor to help people improve their ping-pong game, and the table remains on loan to the Maidstone through September 15.

"I really hope they'll be back with us next year," she said.
