Sag Harbor's Sen Gets Sister Restaurant in Flatiron District

Hamptons favorite arrives in New York City.

The owners of Japanese restaurant Sen, on Main Street in Sag Harbor, recently opened the doors on a new location, in Manhattan's Flatiron District.

Tora Matsuoka and Jeff Resnick's new venture Sen NYC opened in late November and is already creating a buzz on food and nightlife blogs.

Thrillist.com called the restaurant "a dark, sexy jungle of sushi and sake centerpieced by a bamboo-and-metal-encased bar."

Zagat.com blogger James Mulcahy writes, "The extensive selection is a collaboration between executive chef Bryan Emperor and executive sushi Chef Hiro Sawatari who comes over from Niko, which was going for a similar hot-spot status. Everything is shareable, and the offerings are broken into six or so sections that make it easy to course things out."

Grubstreet.com says, "The restaurant has a voluminous wine list, sake by the glass and bottle, and cocktails to match the menu of raw and cooked dishes that span everything from from Japanese fried chicken wings to sustainable Bluefin tuna."

Sen NYC is located at 12 W 21st Street. The restaurant is open Monday through Saturday for dinner and a late night lounge, and Matsuoka says that lunch will be added soon.
