Ronnie's Deli Closes After 50 Years

Share your feelings about this long-time business shutting down in Montauk.

Ronnie's Grocery & Deli, which has been around for 50 years, is closing for good, according to Curbed Hamptons.

A note to customers in the window says it closed because its lease was not renewed. There reportedly will be a half-price sale on Friday and Saturday.

What a shame. Ronnie's is more than just a place to get breakfast or lunch, but a necessary part of Montauk. Competition and choice (in where to eat) makes for a healthy community. One can only hope Ronnie's decides to find a new location that provides them even more success. Anyone care to speculate what goes in that storefront next? Pray it's not just another brown-paper blight for 8 months of the year like you see on Main st. in EH.

Another nail in the Montauk coffin. Did anyone hear that we never wanted to be a "Hampton"? But money talks. Another beautiful place destroyed. But no one really cares, and our town board thinks it's great! Get rid of them!

With Ronnie's gone and Gaviolas going, kids in Montauk will think a deli is where you go for fancy wraps for $13. It's a sad day.

ESTABLISHED BUSINESSES WILL BE DISAPPEARING AS THE HOMES AND HOTEL OR MOTELS YEAR-AROUND.THAT'S AN INJUSTICE.THERE IS ONLY SPACE FOR PROPERTY OWNERS.
