Reflexology Spa Opens in East Hampton

Tired feet have somewhere to go in East Hampton.

On the heels of the success of Happy Feet, a reflexology spa in Sag Harbor, former Happy Feet employee Kevin Wu opened K & G Enjoy Feet Spa for reflexology on The Circle in East Hampton earlier this month.

With business partner Henry Li, Wu set up shop at 61 The Circle, just off Main Street — K & G Enjoy Feet Spa gets the "G" in its name from Li's wife, Grace Gao. They travel from Flushing, Queens, to East Hampton each day.

They have signed a five-year lease for the 800-square-foot space, which had previously sat vacant for two years, they said. It is located just across The Circle from Chase Bank, and near Steph's Stuff and Blue Cream.

With soft music playing in the background, clients are offered Goji Berry Chrysanthemum tea as they soak and clean their feet in a basin, covered with plastic for sanitary purposes. The spa has six comfortable arm chairs, where clients can quite literally kick up their feet and unwind.

"Feet are very important," Wu said, explaining that reflexology not only relieves aching feet, but also has several health benefits, such as improving the cardiovascular system, helping weight control, and lowering high blood pressure.

A one-hour session at K & G Enjoy Feet Spa is more than just a foot massage. Pressure is applied to specific points of the feet for about 35 minutes, with time also spent on the hands, head, neck and back. The arm chairs lean all the way back, allowing the client to turn over and put their face in a cutout of the headrest for a small back massage to end the session. The cost is $40. Appointments are recommended.

Wu said he has been given support by his former employer at Happy Feet. In fact, Wei Wei Roger gave him the series of paintings hanging on the wall at the entrance, he said.

Wu, who hails from China, has a background in physical therapy. He said he hopes his new business venture is a success, but mostly just hopes that the community finds relaxation when they come to visit.

Li has also been in the business of reflexology for several years, opening Enjoy Feet in West Hempstead five years ago. Wu and Li also used owned Ya Ya Feet Spa, which is still in existence under new ownership, in West Islip.

K & G Enjoy Feet Spa at 61 The Circle in East Hampton is open seven days a week from 10:30 a.m. to 8 p.m., but appointments are recommended. They can be reached at 631-527-5257.
