Hamptons Free Ride Inaugural Trip Runs Saturday

Find out the eco-friendly shuttle's route.

Need a ride to the beach? Too tired to shlep from the long-term lot to the East Hampton Village shops? No problem.

Hamptons Free Ride, a new eco-friendly shuttle service in East Hampton Village, launches Saturday morning at 8.

Alternating 100-percent electric, six-seat cars will run 12 hours a day, 7 days a week. The cars run for about two hours or 40 miles before they need a charge.

There is no cost to the riders, as the initiative is supported by advertising.

James Mirras and his partners had planned to conduct the shuttle in Montauk and Amagansett, but have since decided to start with just one hamlet until they have more advertisers on board.

  • The large parking lot just south of the YMCA RECenter at the end of Gingerbread Lane
  • Westbound East Hampton Jitney Stop (by the LVIS)
  • East Hampton Train Station
  • Back to the parking lot near the YMCA
