Groundworks Celebrates Opening on Saturday

Community is invited to check out Groundworks @ Hrens between 1 and 5 p.m.

Groundworks Landscaping, an 11-year-old East Hampton business, is officially opening the doors to its new location with an open house on Saturday.

The former Jos. A. Hren Nursery at 530 Montauk Hwy, on the western border of Amagansett, is now home to Groundworks Landscaping @ Hrens.

In January, Kim Hren, Linda Silich, and Andy Silich, Linda's husband, moved the offices of their design landscape firm from East Hampton Village to the nursery, which has been in the Hren family for 70 years. They expanded their landscaping business to include an Outdoor Living and Garden Center at the refurbished nursery.

A nursery since 1939, the property has been quiet the past few years. In just a few short months, the partners have renovated the original building and spruced up the grounds.

Groundworks @ Hrens will offer a variety of unique gift and necessity items suitable for hosts or visiting guests, as well as for the homeowners in need of outdoor furniture, tropical plants, pet essentials, fire pits, and outdoor kitchens. The garden center will also carry various plants. Workshops and special events are also being planned.
