Not only do Thursdays at in Wainscott alternately feature bands Paul Mahos & New Life Crisis and Mean Machine at 8:30 p.m., there's also a two-course surf-and-turf prix fixe that will make you want to clear your Thursday night schedule for weeks to come.
The Appetizer: The prix fixe comes with a few choices for the first course, but don't even look at the menu. Just tell the waiter you'd like the velvet lobster bisque. (There is a $4 up-charge for the bisque.) There could be nothing better to preface your surf-and-turf entree. Your bowl arrives with just lobster meat in it. As tempting as it is to dig right in to the savory lobster pieces, wait! The waiter will also have a ceramic kettle in tow with the bisque, which he'll pour over the top of the meat. A spoonful of lobster meat with the creamy bisque will put your mouth in heaven. When it is not a part of the prix fixe, the lobster bisque is $16.
The Dish: Georgica's Surf & Turf Special
What's Inside: Whole 1-and-a-quarter-pound lobster, 4-ounce filet mignon and truffle fries with shaved parmesan and herbs.
How's It Taste: The filet mignon is well-seasoned and well-prepared. It is apparent that the kitchen gives this prix-fixe steak the same amount of attention as its full-price counterpart. But the tour de force of the platter is the lobster. The succulent meat slides out of the shell of the perfectly cooked lobster with ease. Whether dipped in butter or with a squeeze of lemon, Georgica's lobster is delicious and more than worth the price.
The two-course lobster prix fix is only available Thursdays. The price is $35 per person, plus a $4 upcharge to get the bisque rather than the other first-course options. Drinks are half off and "Pink Kitty" martinis are $5.
