Gas Station To Re-open Wednesday

East Hampton Village gas station stopped serving gas last week.

The gas station on the corner of Montauk Highway and Toilsome Lane in East Hampton Village may look like it was abanonded overnight, but it has reportedly just changed hands.

Edgar Quizhpe, who leases the garage at the gas station for his mechanics shop, , said on Tuesday that the gas station will re-open on Wednesday — under a different name.

The station is reverting back to Getty and will be under different management, Quizhpe said. The gas station used to be Georgica Getty — and the old sign looks like it's back up.

The gas station — East Hampton Village's only station — stopped selling gas last week, shut its doors, turned off its phone and the American sign out front looks as if it was ripped from its metal holder. The auto repair shop has remained open.

On Tuesday, contractors were seen making some repairs.
