East End Business Book: High End Salon to Hit Hamptons

Westhampton-Hampton Bays

Just two months after opening an oil and vinegar tasting room business, called Vines and Branches, in the heart of Greenport, Rita Winkler has decided to expand into Westhampton Beach. 

"I have a unique concept that I think will work well on the South Fork and in a walking village like Westhampton Beach," said Winkler.

Southampton

Nine years after opening in Dunedin, Fla., the Hamptons-inspired finally has a Southampton shop, selling refurbished vintage furniture and ladies apparel for coastal living as well as shell-encrusted decor pieces designed and handcrafted by owner JoAnna Mincarelli.

Located on Jobs Lane in Southampton Village, opened its doors on May 13. Mincarelli named her stores after her daughter, who was 9 years old when the first Erika's Place opened in November 2003. Now Erika is old enough to run things at the Tampa Bay-area store while her mother is in Southampton for the summer.

Mincarelli told Southampton Patch on Tuesday that she saw a niche in the Hamptons that wasn't being filled. "I've been saying it for years — there's nothing there like my store."

East Hampton

A new salon that opened in East Hampton this week offers some high-end services unique to even the South Fork, such as the 24-karat gold collagen services, a chocolate body wrap and wine body wrap.

Salon Bar officially opens its doors in Suite 10 at 66 Newtown Lane in East Hampton, near and , on Thursday.

Riverhead

Despite weeks of controversy, the owner of a food processing company looking to set up shop on Sound Avenue in Calverton is optimistic about his project -- and wants to set the record straight.

On Tuesday, John King, owner of J. Kings Food Service Professionals, Inc., a food service company, held an open house at 2711 Sound Avenue, the 108,000 square foot site of the former Blackman Plumbing Supply business.

If all goes well, King said he hopes to begin to have his food processing business operational in Calverton by mid-July.

North Fork

For the better part of a decade, the in Greenport was home to a Key West-style bed and breakfast, complete with wicker furniture, seaside paintings and lots of flowers, owned by Jessica and James McCarthy and Pamela Paynter.

Now, the décor has shifted from feminine flowery to a more masculine vibe with leather arm chairs, gray and brown couches, understated pieces of art on the walls and more of a focus on the original walls and hardwood floors of the stately turn-of-the-century house itself.
