Good General Store to Open in Westhampton Beach

With at least on Main Street before the upcoming season, one Westhampton Beach resident has decided to take his chances and open a new business, called, Good Westhampton.

The business, which is modeled as a general store, will officially open it's doors at 141 Main Street in May, according to owner Bruce Jackey.


Southampton Town’s is kicking off its campaign Earth Day weekend, asking shoppers to sign a pledge to reduce the number of plastic bags they use and recycle the remainder.

The campaign, titled “A Greener Southampton: The Solution Is in the Bag,” begins April 21 at the and . Shoppers and merchants will be invited to sign the pledge and the stores will sponsor activities for children, giveaways and free reusable tote bags for every purchase of $10 or more. Shoppers will receive 5 cents off their shopping bill each subsequent time they reuse a bag.


BookHampton's Mattituck Shop to Open April 7

In just over a week, BookHampton will open the doors at

BookHampton owner Charline Spektor said the store will open on Saturday, April 7 at 9 a.m. with local radio station WEHM on hand and giveaways at the store all day.

"We're completely thrilled to open on the North Fork," Spektor said.


Mary's Marvelous Celebrating 10th Birthday With New Location

It's shaping up to be a very happy 10th birthday for the Amagansett sandwich and pastry shop owned by Mary Schoenlein.

This July - 10 years after the store opened on Main Street in Amagansett - Mary's Marvelous is hoping to be all moved into a second location in East Hampton Village, in the space that formerly housed Bucket's Deli on Newtown Lane.

Bucket's was run by Everett and Angela Griffiths for 33 years Juliana Nash, a manager at Mary's Marvelous, said that while she knows Mary's Marvelous will be setting up shop in a space long visited by locals, the gourmet breakfast, sandwich and pastry shop plans on keeping up a tradition of quality food for its customers.

A group of town board members, landowners, and civic group representatives met at Town Hall on Thursday morning to discuss an ongoing Route 25A corridor study and update to the town's Master Plan.

Executive Director Dick Amper dubbed the meeting a "peace summit," and while one of the meeting's goals was to compare different ideas for planning and developing the hamlet, the two-hour-long discussion also illustrated continued contrasting views between the parties.
