Students In The Bog

High schoolers pick cranberries and learn about our environment.

The East Hampton High School Environmental Awareness Club ventured into the bogs of the Walking Dunes in Napeague last week to pick cranberries before the Thanksgiving weekend.

"Most of us had never been cranberry picking, let alone knew that you could go cranberry picking right here," said Caoimhe McKeon, an East Hampton junior. "It was a new experience for us and it was also a great feeling to know that we could bring home cranberries to make cranberry sauce for Thanksgiving."
