Fire Breaks Out on Old Stone Highway

Four fire departments respond to an Amagansett house fire.

Update, 5:30 p.m.: Firefighters extinguished a blaze at 163 Old Stone Highway in Amagansett, less than an hour after it broke out. 

Chiefs requested the East Hampton Fire Department's aerial ladder to help with overhaul, searching for hotspots that may not be visible. East Hampton Town fire marshals are investigating the cause of the fire. 

The Bridgehampton Fire Department was called to stand-by at East Hampton Fire Department's headquarters. 

Previously: 4:53 p.m.: 
Four fire departments are fighting a blaze that broke out at a house on Old Stone Highway in Amagansett on Sunday afternoon. 

The working structure fire was reported at 163 Old Stone Highway, near Neck Path, around 4:20 p.m. 

The Amagansett Fire Department called for help from the Springs and East Hampton fire departments. East Hampton sent it's Rapid Intervention Team, which is called in to stand-by in case interior firefighters need to be rescued, as well as tankers. At 4:35 p.m., Amagansett's chiefs requested a RIT team from the Sag Harbor Fire Department, as well. 

A Springs ambulance was also requested to the scene to help check firefighters out afterwards.  

The Montauk Fire Department was asked to stand-by at Amagansett's headquarters.
