Your Cute Seals Pic of the Day

It’s raining, it’s chilly, it’s April. Ugh. Time for some cute seals.

It’s a late spring even for the seals, which traditionally spend winters—December through April—in Montauk before heading into more northerly waters. Clifford Dayton a.k.a. Cliff Captures took this picture of seals lolling about in the spring sunshine at Montauk the other day. And, since you can never get enough pictures of seals I’ve included a few more of his seal pics.

Dayton, a nature photographer from Moriches, has been taking photograph since high school when his grandfather gave him a 35 mm. camera.

In an essay published in The Conservationist, the magazine of the New York State Department of Conservation, Dayton explains that patience and luck are crucial to getting a great image. “Achieving the "perfect" shot not only requires experimentation using various types of equipment and techniques, it includes understanding the wildlife you are pursuing.”

Dayton’s work is available for sale and can be found on his Facebook page and on his website.
