VIDEO: More Than 175 Authors Sign Books To Support Library

More than 175 authors turned out to support the 's annual "" on Saturday evening by signing books under a tent on the library grounds.

More than 1,000 guests paid the $100 entrance fee to meet authors, get books signed and enjoy a cocktail. The event is projected to have raised more than $200,000 for the library, according to library director Dennis Fabiszak.

From "All My Children" soap opera actress Susan Lucci to thriller novelist Nelson DeMille, sports journalist Robert Lipsyte to political biographer Robert A. Caro and talk show host Dick Cavett, authors ran the gamut.

Alec Baldwin, the co-founding chair, stopped by to pick up some books. Sen. Charles Schumer, D-New York, was a surprise guest. He said he was visiting East Hampton for the weekend and wanted to stop by after reading about the "amazing amount" of authors were scheduled to attend.

The evening was followed by private dinner parties around the South Fork, where a few authors shared food and conversation with guests. Tickets were $250, including entrance to the reception.
