Two New Eateries Open on the Water

One of the best things about summers on the East End is eating outside at a table overlooking the water. This summer, the roster of restaurants with water views will increase by two.

This Thursday, Bay Kitchen Bar opens at the site of of the former Andrra in Springs, whose dining room sits on stilts overlooking the harbor. It’s a little hard to find, but head out  on Three Mile Harbor Road until it turns into Hog Creek Road and then look for Gann Road on the left. Go all the way to the end, and you can’t miss it.

Local chef-restaurateur Eric Miller has created what he calls a "Sea-to-table" menu—dayboat scallops crudo, local striped bass ceviche, pan seared harbor fluke, and the like.

As Newsday notes, "as for its nightlife component, details are still yet to be fully publicized – however, with a sunset-facing, second-floor view of Three Mile Harbor, a daily happy hour from 4 p.m. until sundown and cocktails available (including a signature blackberry julep), it does seem that Bay Kitchen Bar will be vying for customers from both the dining and social crowds."

B. Smith’s the perennial favorite located in Sag Harbor on the docks where multi-million dollar yachts dock during the summer months, won't be returning this summer, according to Black Enterprise Wealth for Life.

Taking its place on the "Riviera of the Hamptons" will be Harlow, a branch of restaurateur Richie Notar's NYC restaurant. (Notar is also one of the founders of the Nobu empire.)

“I've lived in the Hamptons for years and years and years, so I know there are very limited options for sitting by a boat or a bit of water," Notar tells Curbed . "I really like that inviting feeling on the water; we're right on the marina and the property is very approachable. So when the opportunity crossed my desk I was very keen to do it."
