On the Town: Artists, Writers and Mushrooms at Almond

Wednesday night at Almond Restaurant in Bridgehampton, more than 80 people had drinks and dinner at the last in the series of Artists and Writers nights that have been held monthly since last October

Andrea Grover, curator of special projects at The Parrish Art Museum and Phil Ross, an artist led a night of mycological discovery: Is it possible Mushrooms can save the world or do they exist solely to satisfy its culinary enthusiasts?

Everything mushroom was served from a sliced button mushroom salad with bacon to a tea steeped from mushrooms. Mr. Ross gave a presentation on the work he's done cultivating mushrooms and crafting them into building materials that look and feel much like ordinary chipboard.
