Ina Garten to Host Child Advocacy Network Benefit

Ina Garten, cook book author and television personality, will host a benefit for the Suffolk County Child Advocacy Center (CAC) at the Pat and Mary Bagnato Place for Kids, a program of EAC Network, in East Hampton, on Friday evening.

Garten is a long-time supporter of the CAC. Her attention was drawn to the plight of children who have been abducted or abused after a foster mother of Katie Beers' worked at Garten’s East Hampton gourmet emporium, The Barefoot Contessa.

Katie Beers was abducted days before her tenth birthday and held in an underground bunker in Bay Shore. After her rescue, Social Services stepped in and she lived with a foster family on the East End. As a result of Katie’s ordeal the Child Advocacy Center was created. The Center consolidates all the various social services, healthcare and legal resources at risk children need under one roof.

This year’s garden party, in support of the CAC, will take place from 4 to 6 on Friday, July 25, in East Hampton. Guests will have the opportunity to mingle with Ina Garten and sample hors d’oeuvres on the lawn. Tickets are still available by contacting the EAC Network through Alena Jones at 516-539-0150 x117 or by email: alena.jones@eacinc.org.
