Great Escape: Get Back to Nature

It's time for your Great Escape, whether it's on your own, with your significant other, or with a few of your equally-stressed pals.

Let nature itself refresh you for this week's Great Escape.

The East Hampton Trails Preservation Society offers a variety of planned hikes, and there are two this weekend perfect for you to enjoy as you take a little "me time" away from family and responsibilities.

On Saturday, join the hike, which offers a mix of woodland, shoreline, and meadow vistas. Hikers will meet at the West Overlook parking area with hike leader Richard Poveromo at 10 a.m.

Or if Sunday morning is better for your schedule, try this 10:30 hike. Rick Whalen will lead the hike, during which you can learn about East Hampton's Northwest Woods and its beauty and history.

Bringing water, trail snacks, appropriately-layered clothing, and of course comfortable hiking boots or shoes are necessities for these mini-adventures. A camera or binoculars are great ideas, too. Sign-up with the hike leaders at their respective phone numbers, listed with the event listings, and get ready to escape to some of East Hampton's prettiest landscapes for several healthy and outdoorsy hours.

Additional hikes are scheduled through the end of April, check out our events calendar.
