"The Taming of the Shrew" at Montauk Playhouse

The Montauk Playhouse Community Center’s “FamilyFest” series kicks-off with the long-awaited return of the Hamptons Shakespeare Festival to Montauk! Specially designed to bring the magic of Shakespeare to life for young people, HSF’s staging of The Taming of the Shrew distills this comic gem into an hour of hilarity, slapstick, disguises, and true love. Performed by a talented ensemble of versatile actors, The Taming of the Shrew tells the tale of headstrong Kate, wooed by the fortune seeking Petruchio. Experience the power and humor of Shakespeare through this engaging performance of Shakespeare’s rousing and touching tale! Weather permitting, the performance will be held outside, on the Playhouse grounds.

FamilyFest 2012, a four-part summer series of family-friendly programming, features a mix of theatrics, dance, acrobatics and athletics. Now in its third season, FamilyFest 2012 runs every other Thursday, from July 12 through August 23, at the Montauk Playhouse Community Center.

Tickets cost $15 per person, per performance or $50 per person for the four-part series. Tickets are available for purchase online at www.montaukplayhouse.org, by phone at (631) 668-1124, at the Willow gift store in the village of Montauk, and at the door.
