Solé East Resort Hosts “Summer Sunday Classics” Film Series Presented by The Hamptons International Film Festival (HIFF)

Solé East Resort hosts a film series, “Summer Sunday Classics,” in conjunction with the Hamptons International Film Festival (HIFF) , which was founded to celebrate the independent film genre, and promote a love of film.  Solé East and HIFF will screen classic films “that provide opportunity for movie lovers to enjoy some of the cinema’s most memorable moments in the beautiful summer setting of Solé East.  Additionally, more than half of the films are appropriate for the whole family,” says HIFF Programmer and Special Programs Producer Holly Herrick.

Attendance at the films, which will be shown outdoors after sunset, is free and open to the public. The Backyard Restaurant at Solé East will host a casual, pre-screening barbecue and cocktail hour beginning at 7:00 p.m. where food and drink may be purchased.  The series line-up includes:

June 5th: To Catch a Thief (1955), directed by Alfred Hitchcock.  Starring Grace Kelly and Cary Grant. 

June 12th: Summer Stock (1950), directed by Charles Walters. Starring Judy Garland and Gene Kelly.  Family friendly.

June 19th: American Graffiti (1973), directed by George Lucas.  Starring Richard Dreyfuss & Ron Howard.

June 26th:  The Hudsucker Proxy (1994), directed by Joel Coen. Starring Tim Robbins, Paul Newman and Jennifer Jason Leigh.  Family friendly.

 

July 3rd:  West Side Story (1961), directed by Jerome Robbins and Robert Wise.  Starring Natalie Wood and Richard Beymer.

 

July 10th:  The Muppet Movie (1979), directed by James Frawley.  Starring Jim Henson as the voice of Kermit.  Family friendly.

 

July 17th, July 24th and August 7th:  To Be Announced

 

August 14th:  The Fantastic Mr. Fox (2009), directed by Wes Anderson.  Starring George Clooney and Meryl Streep as the voices of Mr. and Mrs. Fox.  Family friendly.

 

August 21st:  Big Night (1996), directed by Campbell Scott & Stanley Tucci.  Starring Marc Anthony, Tony Shalhoub, Stanley Tucci.

 

August 28th:  The Wizard of Oz (1939), directed by Victor Fleming.  Starring Judy Garland.  Family friendly.
