Paul "Pol" Mayer's Works Featured at Ramony Kramoris Gallery

On Saturday, June 16th, there will be an opening reception at the Ramony Kramoris Gallery, 41 Main Street, Sag Harbor, featuring the work of Paul, "Pol", Mayer, 1903- 1997. Paul came to the U.S. shortly after World War II. Early in his career he did drawings for children's books. Due to family objections, he gave up painting and turned to business, however, he continued as a "Sunday Painter". As soon as he retired from business he resumed painting, full force. His paintings reflect a great joie de vivre with extraordinary boldness of color. Pol was a longtime resident of Southampton. In 1995, the painter David Porter set out to celebrate the creative drive of artists over 80 years of age by guest curating a show called "Living Legends". This was the last show in which Pol participated. He was 92 at the time.  A percentage of the proceeds from sales of his paintings will benefit the Southampton Animal Shelter Foundation, (SASF). - The show runs from Thursday, June 7th - Thursday, June 28th.
