“NEOTERIC FINE ART” TO OPEN ON MAIN STREET IN AMAGANSETT, PRESENTING YOUNG LOCAL ARTISTS

Amagansett, NY –

The space formerly occupied by Balasses House Antiques, on Main Street in Amagansett will host a gallery space this summer in the form of “Neoteric Fine Art”, a project aimed at presenting exclusively contemporary art by young, emerging artists primarily native to the East End. Gallery founder and director Scott Bluedorn initially founded ‘Neoteric’ as an artist collective with an accompanying exhibition of the same name at East Hampton Studios in Wainscott in 2006. In this reincarnation, the gallery will be a project space for presenting visual art and design, with occasional readings and musical performances.

The opening exhibition at Neoteric Fine Art is titled “LIFE”, a group show of emerging local artists Jillian Aldrich, Scott Bluedorn, Rory Evenson-Phair, Hailey Kohlus, Martine Langatta, Christian Little, Diana Lives, Charles Ly, Kristin Miller, and Kate Petrone that will run from July 7th- July 28th. The show is a visual presentation on the theme of “life”, expressed both literally and metaphorically. Some of the artists presenting were included in the original Neoteric show of 2006, and reunite here after years of independent development. The initial show will be an equal mix of fine art photography, painting, drawing and mixed-media work, and will open on Saturday, July 7th with a reception from 5-8 pm, a poetry reading by Malik Solomon, and musical performances by Dan Asselin (aka San Joaquin) and Jody Gambino.

The gallery is located in the front room of 208 Main Street, Amagansett (The former Balasses House Antiques), and will be open Tuesday- Sunday from 10-6 pm, and by appointment.
