Harriette Joffe Career Retrospective

Davenport and Shapiro Fine Art will present a career retrospective of the works of Harriette Joffe at its East Hampton gallery beginning June 30th.  The artist will give a gallery talk on July 7th beginning at 5 pm.

Harriette Joffe’s 50-year career as an artist spans from the
post-World War II Abstract Expressionist movement to cutting edge work in thepresent.  Embraced by the first
generation of Abstract Expressionist painters on the East End of Long Island,she was welcomed first as a student, and then as a colleague.  Today she represents one of the last livinglinks to central figures in the avant-garde of 20th-century Americanart, including such artists as Willem de Kooning, Elaine de Kooning, PhilipPavia,  Ibram Lassaw, John Little andBalcomb Greene.

The exhibition is curated by the critic Robert Linsley and Davenport and Shapiro has published a monograph in conjunction with the exhibition.
