Where Are The Most Ignored Stop Signs?

Stop signs are not optional, but they're sometimes treated as if they are.

There are hundreds of stop signs in throughout East Hampton Town, but unfortunately, too often are they completely ignored by folks in a rush.

These "stop-tional" signs are the ones that drivers treat more as a suggestion than a command. The ones in which a car comes down the road, slightly slows down and then accelerates through the stop sign.

Do you know of a location where a stop sign is frequently rolled through or ignored? Share where it is in the comments section, below.

DEFINETLY Flamingo and West Lake Drive, its probably the worst intersection in town. Thats a perfect spot for a traffic circle, plenty of space.

Where Hands Creek Road intersects Springy Banks. You take your life in your hands if you are going South on Hands Creek and want to go straight onto Springy Banks - everyone seems to want to turn there and it can be a nightmare - not including the flocks of wild turkeys and herds of deer!

Pick any stop sign in Montauk. Cops sadly understaffed.

Anywhere cyclists ride frequently seems to be where I see the most people blast through stop signs. Of course, I'm specifically speaking of cyclists blasting through stop signs and even lights without even slowing down or looking.

4 way stop at Agnus and Prentice in Ditch Plains Montauk

Muir and Atwell. A 4-way stop that is totally ignored by people who are from Illinois where it seems that there are no driving rules.

Corner of Waterhole Road and Fenmarsh Road in Clearwater Beach. The stop sign on Waterhole cannot be seen until you are on top of it. Cars fly through at 50 mph. Almost no one stops. I have told the town about this situation. Mr. Lynch said he'd take care of it. This was about a year ago. I'm just waiting for the Springs school bus to be t-boned by a car on Fenmarsh thinking no one is coming down Waterhole because no one is stopped at the Waterhole stop sign.

All the stop/railroad crossing markings are that way...I noticed that & said the same exact thing right after they were installed. That stop sign facing BeJay's...fuggebaboudit. I've almost been hit 2x, coming both ways on King Street. No one even really rolls thru it, they don't look either direction for oncoming traffic, they just don't stop at all.

I agree with Lyn. I live near there and especially the local kids fly through with reckless abandon.
