Week in Review: Young Girl Killed While Bicycling Saturday

A look back at the past week's headlines, which turned incredibly tragic yesterday. 

1. 14-year-old Bicyclist Dies After Car Crash in East Hampton Village

The East Hampton community has a heavy heart this Father's Day as news spreads that a 14-year-old girl, who was riding her bicycle through the village on Saturday, died from her injuries after being pinned under a vehicle. Her name has not yet been released. As we gather more details in this tragedy we will bring you more information. 

2. Bowling Alley To Roll Last Frame

East Hampton Bowl in East Hampton Village is shutting its doors at the end of June, which will not only mean there won't be a bowling alley anywhere on the South Fork, but also that East Hampton High School will likely lose its bowling team. 

3.  Cops Bust Deli Workers, Bartender in Undercover Sting

East Hampton Town police arrested five people on Friday during an undercover investigation that the department hopes will serve as a "wake up call" for teens trying to score beer as well as adults doling it out to minors, Captain Mike Sarlo said on Tuesday.

4. Cantwell Extolled for 3 Decades of Service

Larry Cantwell's service to East Hampton Village was celebrated at his retirement party on Sunday. The Village Administrator for 31 years, he is stepping down from the post next month. However, Cantwell is far from going into retirement, as he's seeking the town supervisor seat in November's election on the Democratic and Independence tickets. 

5. Springs Native Claims Second Poker World Series Title

Athanasios "Tom" Polychronopoulos did it again. A Springs native, he won his second gold bracelet at the World Series of Poker in Las Vegas on Tuesday morning, not to mention taking home an astounding $518,755 in the $1,500 buy-in No-Limit Hold'em tournament Rio All-Suite Hotel & Casino.
