Week in Review: Shark Attack Party Goes Off Without a Hitch

1. Chief Rescues Dog from Burning Amagansett Home
Flames were shooting through the roof of an Amagansett house when the first firefighters arrived on Sunday afternoon, and thanks to a quick search, a chief rescued the only occupant: An old Golden Retriever named Cooper cowering in the corner of the home.
2. Officials: Shark Attack Party Had No Bite
Despite concerns, Ben Watts' Shark Attack Sounds party at the Montauk Yacht Club seems to have gone off without much of a problem, according to East Hampton Town officials.
East Hampton Town Police Chief Ed Ecker reported that one noise violation was issued to the yacht club after several complaints were lodged. Otherwise, he said, the fashion photographer's 11th annual party in Montauk went as planned, and much better than last year's party, which was held at a different venue over the busy Fourth of July weekend.
3. Holiday Weekend Kept EMS Crews, Cops Busier Than Usual
While holiday weekends offer a big boost to the local economy, they also mean many more calls for emergency responders, from police to ambulance crews. This past Fourth of July weekend proved even busier than most holidays, officials said.
4. DWI Task Force Nets 9 Arrests in East Hampton Saturday Night
In its first organized effort of the summer season in the Town of East Hampton, the Suffolk County District Attorney's DWI Task Force brought in nine arrests over the Fourth of July weekend.
5. Local Facebook Group Goes Viral
Just one week ago, a Facebook group, meant to expose and poke fun at the nonsensical behavior of some of the Hamptons visitors, had about 800 members. As of Friday afternoon, there are now 11,813.
