This Weekend: Celebrate Pussy's Pond Bridge, Spin for Sag Harbor

Here's a round-up of what's happening over the weekend of Jan. 25 to 27.

This weekend, the East Hampton Historical Society's winter lecture series begins, and East Hampton Library's free winter film series continues at Guild Hall. In between, you can shop 'till you drop at the LVIS Blow Out Sale and celebrate the opening of the Pussy's Pond Bridge in Springs. Just be sure to bundle up!

Friday

LVIS BLOW OUT SALE: The Ladies Village Improvement Society is having its biggest sale of the year at Bargain Box and Bargain Books. Catch the sale every day (except Tuesday) through Thursday, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

POTLUCK DINNER: Temple Adas Israel will hold a potluck dinner at the Sag Harbor temple, at 6 p.m., to honor the Jewish birthday of the trees, Tu B'shevat. Please bring a dairy or vegetarian dish to share with 6 to 8 people.

WINTER LECTURE: The East Hampton Historical Society’s 2013 series on "Changing Times: Epics & Events that Shaped East Hampton" begins on Friday at 7 p.m. with "The Boarding House Era: The Coming of the Summer Colonists," with Richard Barons giving the lecture.

Saturday

SPIN FOR BOOSTER FOUNDATION: Take a spin and combat fitness class at the Sag Harbor Gym to benefit the Sag Harbor Booster Foundation. One hour of indoor Cycling, followed by a one hour Body Combat class starts at 10 a.m. A Raffle and breakfast follow the event. Price: Participate in one class for $20 or both for $30. Students over the age of 15 may participate in one class for $15 or both classes for $20.

SEAL HIKE: Hikers will meet at the Montauk Point Lighthouse Concession building at noon. Reservations are required. Price: Fees are $5 for adults, $3 for children 7-18, and free for children 6 & under

OPENING RECEPTION: Guild Hall will hold an opening reception for the Student Art Festival, Part I, for Grades K-8, from 2 to 4 p.m.

NATIONAL THEATRE LIVE: "The Magistrate," starring Academy Award nominee and Tony Award-winner John Lithgow in the uproarious Victorian farce by Arthur Wing Pinero. The screening at Guild Hall begins at 8 p.m. Price: $18, $16 members

LIVE MUSIC: Singer/sonwriter Ken Morsch will perform Soul, R&B, and Fingerstyle guitar at Harbor Grill in East Hampton, starting at 7 p.m. Grab an affordable meal, and hang out to hear some tunes. Admission is free.

Sunday

OPENING CELEBRATION: Pussy’s Pond Bridge in Springs will have an opening celebration at noon to mark the completion of reconstruction of the footbridge over the headwaters of Accabonac Harbor. The public is invited to attend (gather at the bridge on the School Street side). Afterward, the celebration will continue nearby at Ashawagh Hall, where food and beverages will be served.

WINTER FILM SERIES: Guild Hall, in partnership with East Hampton Library, presents the annual free winter series. "Hospitalite" will be shown, starting at 4:30 p.m. For more information, clickhere.
