One Healthy Hamptons marked its very first event, raising over $1,000 for Head Start in Bridgehampton and Riverside to fund their ongoing early intervention, family assistance programs, and school supplies for the upcoming school year.
Shay Kostabi, a well-known FlyBarre & Flywheel instructor, lead a benefit 45-minute ride at the Flywheel studio in East Hampton on Saturday.
"We cycled to end the cycle of poverty and we made a difference," Kiley Sabatino, the organizer, said. "One Healthy Hamptons is loving teaming up with this community to rally for a cause."
Sabatino, who started One Healthy Hamptons, focuses on all things health and fitness related in the Hamptons. A former social worker who lives in Sag Harbor, she plans on organizing other fundraisers and gatherings around the South Fork.
Head Start is a national program to help children and families with income levels below the poverty line.
There was a minimum donation of $50 per bike.
Anke's Fit Bakery and Juicy Naam provided refreshments. Prizes were raffled off, including a wine tasting for two at Wolffer Estate, a massage at Naturopathica, $100 shopping spree to Gloria Jewel, fresh flowers from Groundworks, and a bakery basket from Anke’s Fit Bakery.
