One of Town Pond Cygnets Die

Steven Tekulsky says snapping turtles sometimes get to some of the babies.

The unofficial commissioner of swans in East Hampton Village said he could confirm the death of one of the 2011 .

Steven Tekulsky, who has been keeping tabs on the baby swans since their birth a few weeks ago, said it is unfortunately a somewhat usual occurrence that some of the babies die. Snapping turtles in are usually the culprit, he said.

The cygnet that died was one of the five similarly colored grey ones, leaving behind four grey babies and one white one.
