Steven Tekulsky, the unofficial commissioner of swans in East Hampton Village, wrote in with some sad news from :
"I am sorry to report that we have lost one of our three cygnets. No more survive. Not sure what happened, as all three were there at least on Wednesday and no apparent problems," he said.
The cygnets made their debut at the pond a little late this year, around May 20. Tekulsky named them, "Moe, Larry and Curley," after the Three Stooges. Larry is the one with what appeared to be the bald spot.
Tekulsky also shared some photos, one of which shows the mother with her babies as they decided to go for a swim one morning. They nest on Hook Pond and, when the cygnets are big enough, they all waddle over to Town Pond.
Other photographs are from Friday.
