Clintons Reportedly Renting in Sagaponack This Month
Bill and Hillary Clinton are not renting in East Hampton again, as was previously reported, according to The Times.
Despite earlier reports that former President Bill Clinton and presumptive 2016 presidential candidate Hillary Clinton rented the same East Hampton estate for the third consecutive August, The New York Times reported Thursday that the couple are actually renting in Sagaponack.
The past two summers, Elie Hirschfeld rented his oceanfront Lily Pond Lane home at Georgica Beach to the Clintons, but Hirschfeld told The Times Thursday that he is not renting his house to anyone this season.
The Times reports that two brokers said the Clintons have rented near the ocean in Sagaponack.
In January, it was reported that the Clintons were looking to plant more permanent roots in East Hampton, where they have vacationed several times since Clinton's presidency.
Last summer, the former president even made a surprise stop at the annual Artists and Writers softball game during a trip to the village. During Hurricane Irene in 2011, the Clintons rode out the storm at their rental home, and Bill Clinton celebrated his 65th birthday at Babette's.
