Nov. 18: Blood Drive, Baking Cookies, and Basketball

The South Fork community once again shows how it will come together to help give back.

There are all sorts of wonderful ways to give back to the community, and on Thursday there's a lot going on, from a blood drive to a basketball tournament. Surely there's something for each one of us to get involved in.

1. The first of many blood drives this holiday season will be held today. Southampton Hospital will host a  from 7 a.m. until 5:45 p.m. If you can't make it over to Southampton today, check out the East Hampton Patch for other drives going on this month and next a little closer to home.

2. The Bridgehampton PTO got resounding support for their third annual  drive. Dozens of families turned out with holiday gifts and cards for needy children. They wrapped about 100 shoe box presents that will be shipped around the world. Check out the .

3. The film  will be screened at the this evening at 6:30 p.m. Darko Lungulov, a Ross School staff, and producers David Nemer, a former student, and Goran Petmil will present the film to raise money for the Ross Scholarship Fund and Millenium Promise. 

4. Get a head start on your holiday baking today. Tomorrow, members of the members and their wives will be packing boxes for the troops in Afghanistan.  Anyone who wants to drop off homemade cookies to be included in the boxes can do so between 8am and noon.

5. You have until Tuesday to register for the Lt. Joseph J. Theinert 3 on 3 Basketball Tournament, to be held on Shelter Island on Nov. 27. There are team requirements, so check out the rules at our story .
