Nov. 15: How to Keep Active and Give Back at the Start of the Holidays

Badminton, a community heart-healthy pot luck, and Operation Christmas Stocking are just some suggestions.

Keep you and your family healthy by taking part in some of these activities today.

1. For the kids today, there is a at the at 10 a.m. This is a weekly event, so if you miss it today, you can always schedule it in for next time.

2. The holidays are just around the corner, and it's time to think about presents. Let's not forget the troops. at the is winding down. Packed stockings for the troops will be sent out on Saturday. So stuff your stockings full of toiletries and write a note of thanks to the troops and drop it off. There's usually someone at the legion after 3 p.m.

3. Tonight there is a dinner, hosted by the , at the . Heart healthy, vegan dishes will be served. Those who are attending have to bring their own favorite vegan dish for the group. Be there by 6:30 p.m.

4. Speaking of being healthy, Dr. John Kavanaugh, a chiropractor, will hold a health talk at at 7 p.m.  Health preservation and illness prevention will be discussed over a free meal. Spots have to be reserved through Dr. Kavanaugh's office.

5. If you're out in Montauk, join the group that plays at the . To play is $40 per person, but it's two hours of healthy activity starting at 7 p.m.
