Nov. 11: Honor Veterans in as Many Ways Possible

Say thank you with a phone call, waving a flag at the parade, or take your favorite veteran out to the volleyball game.

While kids might just be excited to have a day off from school, today, Veterans Day, is one of the United States' most important holidays. Let's honor all of those who have defended our country, be mindful of those who are deployed, many of whom are second or third tours of the Middle East, and remember those whose lives have been lost.

1.  Start the day off by reaching out to a veteran in your life. Whether it's your grandfather or your neighbor, tell him or her you are thankful for their service. Pick up the phone or write a note, it will take just a moment, but they will likely remember it for a lifetime.

2.  Attend one of the Veterans Day events. will be held at the   at 10 a.m. The Boy and Girl Scouts will be on hand to honor the veterans. Coffee, hot chocolate, and breakfast items will be served following the ceremony.

3. In East Hampton Village, members of the will march from at 10 a.m. to the Memorial on the Green for a short ceremony. A reception will follow at the in Amagansett.
