Overton, Burke-Gonzalez Win Seats on the Town Board
Republican candidate Fred Overton and Democratic candidate Kathee Burke-Gonzalez will join Supervisor Elect Larry Cantwell on the East Hampton Town Board in 2014. With 19 out of 19 districts reporting machine votes in, Overton was the highest vote-getter, receiving 3,216, or just over 28.2 percent of the vote, while Burke-Gonzalez received 3,125 or 27.4 percent of the vote.

Lady Whalers Bring Home Long Island Championship

The Pierson-Bridgehampton field hockey team got a huge welcome home on Wednesday evening after capturing the Long Island Class C Championship with a 3-2 win over the Carle Place Lady Frogs.

Two days after her daughter was killed in an Eastport hit-and-run Sunday, Erika Strebel's mother Maureen has spoken out about the tragedy.

"We hope that you can all understand that this is a very tragic, emotional and sad moment for the Strebel and Barton families. We have lost our daughter, Erika, a very loving and beautiful young mother. She will be eternally missed."

As the cold weather blankets the East End, many homeless men and women who have been living in tents in the woods look forward eagerly to November 1, the day when Maureen's Haven, a program that provides shelter and food to the needy, opens its doors.
