Nelson Foran and Richard Swift married in East Hampton on Friday, as well as celebrating Foran's 80th birthday.
The couple will celebrate their 30th anniversary together this November. They were joined in marriage by Lisa R. Rana in a ceremony in her private chambers.
The couple were living around the corner from each other in New York City but had never met until one evening when they happened to be in the same restaurant in 1981.
"It was a case of love at first sight," Swift said. The day after the couple met he was having cocktails with friends and told them "I think I've met the person I am going to spend the rest of my life with."
They moved in together two weeks later and then to the East End in 1982." His prediction turned out to be true and happily love at first sight really does exist, Swift said.
Swift works in East Hampton as a top sales associate at and Foran is a happily retired advertising executive.
Edward Kawcynski and Nadim Racy, friends of both for decades, were witnesses for the couple's union.

A dinner reception will be held at a friends townhouse in New York City to celebrate their marriage in September.
