Mosquito Spraying Set for Tuesday

Beach Hampton, Napeague and Accabonac Harbor are on the schedule.

Suffolk County Department of Health will be spraying some salt marshes in the Town of East Hampton on Tuesday night to control mosquito larvae.

According to the health department, spraying will take place over Napeague, Beach Hampton and Accabonac Harbor between 5 a.m. and 8 p.m.

Officials did not recommend any precaution, as the helicopter will be flying at a very low level over marsh areas and taking precautions to control drift into inhabited areas. Human exposure is unlikely and the products involved — methoprene — have no significant human toxicity, they said.

Just last week, the health department sprayed on the ground on Napeague and in Beach Hampton to help control mosquitos.
