Mosquito Spraying Set for Tuesday

Spraying in Napeague, Beach Hampton expected to take place between 7:30 and 11:30 p.m.

Suffolk County Department of Health will be spraying on the ground on Napeague and in Beach Hampton on Tuesday night to control mosquitos.

According to the DOH, spraying will take place between Sandpiper Lane and Napeague Lane in Beach Hampton, and in Napeague, all streets between Marlin Drive and Dolphin Drive. All spraying will be done between 7:30 and 11:30 p.m.

Officials said that materials sprayed do not leave significant residues, however individuals interested in reducing further exposure to the pesticide – which will be resmethrin – can pick any produce before Tuesday night, and following the spray, wash thoroughly with water before consuming.

Children and pregnant women are advised to avoid exposure, staying indoors during spray time or avoiding the area for 30 minutes after, keeping windows shut and circulating air conditioning units with indoor air.
