More Snow Expected for Valentine's Day Morning

A weak snowstorm will pass over Long Island, leaving behind up to 5 inches of snow.

Don't put away the snowblowers just yet  — the winter is set to continue its snowy onslaught.

The National Weather Service is forecasting a weak snowstorm to roll over Long Island on Wednesday night into Thursday morning, leaving behind anywhere from 3 to 5 inches across the Town of East Hampton, falling between 10 p.m. and 5 a.m.

While the amount of snow will be minimal compared to the vicious amounts left behind by the Feb. 8th blizzard, the snow will accumulate enough to cause treacherous driving conditions on the morning of Valentine's Day and add to the headache caused by the remaining snow on the ground.

Unlike the last storm, winds should not be an issue this time around. Forecasts call for light winds around 9 to 20 mph (depending on if you are in East Hampton or Montauk) and a 70 percent chance of preciptation. It will not create whiteout conditions, but might cause moderate blowing of newly fallen snow.

The storm, part of a low-pressure system, will bring behind it a cold-front that will help shift temperatures back for the end of the week, as highs will drop to the mid-30s ahead of what could be the next talked about winter storm.
