After the great success last fall, Montauk's Scarecrow Days are back.
Montauk Youth and the Montauk Village Association are brining back another installment, giving residents and businesses the opportunity to compete for the funniest, scariest, and most creative scarecrows.
"Like last year, we expect more than 50 scarecrows to be installed around town between Oct. 5 and Nov. 2, creating a festive fall atmosphere throughout Montauk," said Maureen Rutkowski, of Montauk Youth.

Scarecrows must be installed by Oct. 5 for judging, and just in time for the Montauk Fall Festival. The winners will be announced at Montauk Youth's Field Day at Third House on Oct. 24.
Scarecrow frames, along with location assignments, will be handed out at Keeshan Real Estate, starting Wednesday (Sept. 26). If you want prime spots, go get your assignment soon as they are given out on a first-come, first-serve basis. The rest is up to you.
In the inaugural year, the Kim family's "Hula Girl" and the Ibrahim family's "Pink Rocker" took home top prizes. Click here for a full-list of winners from 2011.
"We invite all to participate in this free activity, and look forward to seeing what our creative community comes up with this year," Rutkowski said.
Gurney's Inn and Riverhead Building Supply are sponsors.
