Mollie Zweig’s Revetment Construction Resumes

A revetment may be a fancy name for a seawall and Mollie Zweig is sparing no expense on the construction of her very own.

This morning more than half a dozen giant earthmovers, bulldozers, backhoes and diggers were lined up at dawn in the parking lot at Georgica Beach in East Hampton.

Before 7 am the first bulldozer had rolled down the walkway and onto the beach to begin a day of hauling enormous boulders and digging sand to build Zweig’s disputed revetment.

Zweig, the ex-wife of the late investment” “guru” Martin Zweig has been trying to get her sea wall built ever since Hurricane Irene in 2011 battered her beachfront property.

The East Hampton Town Trustees, the State Supreme Court and neighbors are not pleased but it seems there is little they can do to stop her.
