March 4: Free Community Health Fair and County Legislator Performance Slated

What you need to know about Friday.

The weekend is finally here -- and no one is more excited that I am. It has been a long week. But, it's not over quite yet. Let's check out what's going on for the first Friday in March.

1. Thursday night's town board meeting heard many complaints and concerns about amendments to the peddling law with regard to concessions. Some longtime concession stand owners are worried the new bidding process will cause them to lose their prized locations. Check back later for more.

2. , the South Fork Community Health Initiative, and Southampton Hospital are sponsoring a a on Friday at the school building behind . There will be free glucose, total cholesterol, and blood pressure screenings, and scheduling for free pap and mammography screenings, and representatives for health insurance, food stamps sign-ups and HEAP, a home heating assistance program. Healthy refreshments will be served.

4. County Legislator Jay Schneiderman, I-Sag Harbor, will join Alfredo Merat at on Friday night to jam. Schneiderman, a seasoned drummer, and Merat, a singer and guitarist, begin their performance at 8 p.m.
