Every day, many readers add community events to our calendar on East Hampton Patch and we appreciate it so much because together we can keep the community informed. Each week are going to highlight some of the events to draw attention to them. So mark your calendars, here's what's ahead.
1. "INCOGNITO: THE ART OF DISGUISE"
Neoteric Fine Art presents an examination of costume, disguise, and the assumption of “The Other," by taking various viewpoints, illustrating the functions of these instruments of disguise, on view from Oct. 26 to Nov. 24. Participating artists include Scott Bluedorn, Andrea Cote, Margaret Farmer, Charles Ly, Christine Lidrbauch, Christian Little, Diana Lives, Lutha Leahy-Miller, Annysa Ng, Maria Pessino, and Kate Petrone. An opening reception and costume party will be held on Oct. 26 from 5 to midnight.
2. THE RETREAT'S HAMPTONS JURIED ART SHOW
An opening reception for the Top 25 Group Show for the fourth annual Hamptons Juried Art Show at the Richard J Demato Fine Arts Gallery in Sag Harbor will be held on Oct. 27 from 6 to 8 p.m. The event is free and all artwork is for sale with a 50/50 split between the artist and The Retreat.
3. MEET THE CANDIDATES
The Concerned Citizens of Montauk will host its 42nd "Meet the Candidates" forum at the Montauk Fire Department on Oct. 28 at 1 p.m. All candidates present will have an opportunity to introduce themselves, state their positions and ask a question of their opponent. There will also be opportunities for the public to ask questions of the candidates.
4. HALLOWEEN PARTY
SportTime in Amagansett will host a Halloween party that includes dodgeball, basketball, face painting, bounce house, costume contest, prizes, music, refreshments and more on Oct. 27 at 11 a.m.
5. "SMALL WORKS BIG/VIEWS" BENEFIT ART SHOW
An exhibition and sale featuring the paintings and photographs of six well known landscape artists, Casey Chalem Anderson, Susan D'Alessio, Anita Kusick, Michele Margit, Lieve Thiers and Kathryn Szoka will take place at Ashawagh Hall in Springs to benefit the East Hampton Food Pantry. An opening reception will be held on Nov. 3 from 5 to 8 p.m.
