A parade in East Hampton, a flag ceremony in Montauk, and remembrance of the War of 1812 in Sag Harbor are all part of the Veterans Day observances.

In observance of Veterans Day, several ceremonies will take place in the area.

The Everit Albert Herter Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 550 is sponsoring a parade on Monday, Nov. 11, at 10 a.m. The parade starts at London Jewelers, the old VFW building, on Main Street in East Hampton Village, and proceeds down Pantigo Road to the monuments, where will be a few short remarks. Afterwards, everyone is invited to American Legion Post 419 in Amagansett for the 11-11-11 ceremony at 11 a.m.

In Montauk, The Montauk Playhouse Community Center Foundation will hold its seventh annual Flag Ceremony in honor of veterans on Monday. Coffee and treats will be served following the ceremony in the Senior Nutrition Center Dining Room. Boy and Girl Scout troops will be on hand to honor the veterans. The entire community is invited to attend.

Over in Sag Harbor, residents will celebrate those who defended against the British troops attempt to invade the village during the War of 1812, 200 years ago. First, the annual Veterans Day parade will be held, starting at the Civil War Monument down Main Street and onto Bay Street, at 9 a.m. A gathering will follow at the Chelberg-Battle Post of the American Legion on Bay Street.
Assemblyman Fred W. Thiele, Jr. will present a proclamation honoring Sag Harbor’s part in War of 1812.
