Holiday Party To Benefit East End's Homeless

Proceeds from the event will help the homeless this winter.

In the true spirit of the holidays, one local business is hosting a party that will benefit the homeless on the East End and help provide them with warmth and sustenance during the cold winter months.

Riverhead's Hotel Indigo presents the "Jingle Mingle," to benefit Maureen's Haven, an organization that operates under the auspices of Peconic Community Council to help shelter and feed the homeless in area houses of worship.

The four-hour party, to be held on Thursday, Dec. 12, from 7 to 11 p.m., costs $50 at the door and includes decorated tables, a DJ, a Chinese auction, and an extensive menu.

The menu includes butler-passed hors d'oeuvres, vegetable spring rolls with sweet and sour sauce, raspberry baked brie, chicken kabobs with Thai peanut sauce, franks en croute, Caprese salad, tomatoes, mozzarella and basil, salad, chicken Francaise with lemon and caper berries, praline-crusted cod with chardonnay butter cream, topped with raisins, New York strip steak with cranberry port reduction, penne a la vodka, vegetables, desserts, beer, wine, soda, coffee and tea.

Local small businesses, Maureen's Haven Executive Director Tracey Lutz said, can hold their holiday parties at the event, with proceeds going to a good cause.

In addition, party goers can stay overnight: For information, call the Hotel Indigo and mention "Jingle Mingle" for a special guest room rate of $72 plus tax, based on availability.

Hotel Indigo is located at 1830 West Main Street in Riverhead.
