Hamptons Marathon Raises Over $60k for Local Orgs

Race has raised over $220,000 for Southampton Hospital and Project MOST since 2008.

The directors of the Hamptons Marathon handed over $60,000 in donations to local organizations in recent weeks.

Project MOST and Southampton Hospital each received $27,000 last week from the race, which not only includes a marathon, but also a half-marathon and 5K, all of which takes place in Springs on a single day at the end of September.

Also, $3,000 was donated to the East Hampton Day Care Learning Center, the Springs School received $2,500, and $500 went to the Springs booster club to help keep interscholastic sports running.

"This is equal to what we donated last year, just allocated slightly differently," Amanda Moszkowski, one of the organizers, said on Monday. "Our expenses were up this year, as were everyone's, I think, and we actually ended up registering fewer runners, so we were pleased that we were able to keep our donations as high as we did."

Hamptons Marathon has raised over $120,000 for the hospital and over $100,000 for Project MOST since 2008.

"The donation helps support the many learning and enrichment activities Project MOST provides to 250 children every day after school from 3 to 6 p.m.," said Tim Bryden, the executive director. The program operates at both John M. Marshall Elementary and Springs schools.
