East Hampton Town Lights: And the Winner is ...

East Hampton Patch announces the winner of the 2010 'King of Holiday Lights' contest.

Following much hemming and hawing, East Hampton Patch editor , contributors, and readers have decided that the winner of the inaugural in East Hampton Town is the well-known "White House."

If you have ever traveled into or out of East Hampton Village, you've seen it: the white colonial on the corner of Woods Lane and Main Street, diagonally across the pond from the , down the road from the . Parts of the house are said to date to the 18th century. In recent years, it's been listed for as much as $50 million.

Year after year, the home, dubbed the "White House," is decorated with lights along every inch; the dormers, the porch, the roof. The trees are lit up as well.

Many readers said it is a favorite, a tradition that they look forward to year after year. In fact, it was the first house we thought to photograph as part of the 'King of Holiday Lights' contest because it's just so well known.

The house will now be entered in the Long Island-wide contest. We'll let you know if East Hampton's house wins.
